 About JMUNation.org

Backstory

When the College of Business at JMU appointed a group of students, juniors and seniors, to promote connectivity among students, alumni and faculty, it didn't take long before ideas were flying and re-invented wheels were rolling about, even if just in theory. As ideas were tossed around, the concept of an exclusive social networking website gained the most traction. At that point, one of the appointed connectivity team members ran with the concept by designing and implementing JMUNation.org.

Problem and Solution

"If there is one area that I feel is lacking at JMU, it is the opportunity to speak with advisers or alumni about their careers and how they chose what they have ended up doing." - Student Comments, JMU College of Business Undergrad Profile, BusinessWeek (accessed 11.26.2007)

We believe this student's comment was right on-point, and our goal is to turn student-alumni connectivity into a bright spot across the university. We have taken the first step by creating a venue where students and alumni can connect. Through our search processes, members of the JMUNation.org community can actively seek out other members based on their educational and career experiences. Most JMU alumni are excited to help JMU students; the missing link has been a connectivity vehicle. JMUNation.org is that vehicle. The next step is up to you. If you qualify and are yet to become a member, sign-up now.

Innovation

While innovation is often nothing more than a buzz word, for us innovation couldn't be more real. We are constantly rethinking our concept in search of new ways to help connect people in the James Madison community. In the coming months, we are set to launch a mobile version of JMUNation.org, an entrepreneurial zone and a cutting-edge job search application. But the reality is that we are only scratching the surface of what can be accomplished here. If you have a suggestion or would like to be involved with segment development, contact us.
